In the early 1970s it was the heartfelt desire of Rev. John Hancock and the congregation of First Baptist Church of Seaford to establish a "Christian Day School" in the Seaford area.  After prayerful consideration, this Christian Day School became a ministry of First Baptist Church and was named Seaford Christian Academy and officially opened its door in September 1973. Seaford Christian Academy became officially incorporated in 1975 as a non-profit organization.

There were 9 original students in two classes (4 in Kindergarten and 5 in First Grade) that were taught by two teachers, Mrs. Roberta Fields and Mrs. Jodie Labor. The school financial secretary was Evelyn Hancock and the administrator was Rev. John Hancock.  The Kindergarten classroom was located in the present day K3 classroom and the First Grade classroom was in the present day church nursery. The following year the school added grades 2 and 3, which were held in various church Sunday School rooms. In 1973, school registration fees were $22 per student and tuition was $50 per month for each student. The original entranceway for the school was the door that is in the hallway next to the present day K3 classroom. The school office first started with one desk and chair, rotary telephone, typewriter, ditto machine and one filing cabinet.

With enrollment in SCA increasing, an addition was constructed to the back of the church that became the first building of Seaford Christian Academy. This new school building, completed in 1976, is currently known as the Elementary Building.

A pre-existing concrete building on the lot behind the church served as the first original gym for the school. That building and property was purchased by the church and school in the mid 1970s increasing the property size of the school.

Growing attendance in the upper grades led to the construction of the High School in 1984. The original High School was added on to the original building used as the first gym. The gym portion remained a gym while four classrooms were added on for the initial creation of the high school.

Expanding in the realm of sports and increasing the number of school students, a larger and separate gymnasium was constructed and completed in 1988.  The old gym area in the original building was remodeled to add four more classrooms for high school use.  The new gymnasium was connected to the high school.

A volleyball court and playground were originally located where the current gymnasium is now. The playground moved to its current location when the gymnasium was constructed in 1988. A new playground was built in the summer of 2003 to replace original playground equipment from the mid 1970s.

Seaford Christian Academy has expanded its growth far beyond the imagination when the school began in 1973.

Today, Seaford Christian Academy offers education for children as young as three years and continues up through twelfth grade.
